As a Naturopath, Nutritionist & body inclusive Gestalt Psychotherapist, I am passionate about:
If you choose to, I will support you to live more consciously and fully:
My specific areas of interest include:
*gut microbiome & digestive concerns (IBS, IBD etc) *mood concerns & mental health (anxiety, depression, OCD) *chronic fatigue *chronic illness *chronic inflammation *Environmental causes of illness (mould, heavy metals, pathogens) *Chronic Inflammatory Response Syndrome (CIRS) *allergies *food intolerances *chronic pain *thyroid disease *auto-immune conditions *Psychotherapy & Counselling sessions – for support with chronic illness and for living consciously & mindfully *Corporate workshops/webinars and training
My journey to become a Naturopath began in my 20’s when I developed digestive problems, was moody and had cystic acne. Modern medicine didn’t have the answers for me. With the help of a Naturopath/Nutritionist I turned my health around within 3 months. I was so inspired by the dramatic change in my health, I decided to quit my job and study Naturopathy, Nutrition & Herbal Medicine. Then later, with an interest in how our mind effects our body symptoms, went onto study Gestalt Psychotherapy & Counselling, and eventually Mindfulness and body inclusive sensorimotor psychotherapy.
I went on to develop a busy practice, but then a physical accident changed the cause of my journey. I developed chronic pain and a chronic illness, and ultimately became a sick Naturopath and an anxious Psychotherapist.
It was an opportunity for pausing and reflecting, nourishing, learning and rebooting. I became aware of both the strengths and limits of my original training. So I furthered my studies in more somatic based psychotherapy modalities and psychology, functional medicine pathology and testing, and the many environmental causes of illnesses (mould, lyme disease, heavy metals), and thus began to heal myself, with what I had learned and perhaps already knew in my body, yet had forgotten.
I want to give you the opportunities I didn’t have
I am a Sydney Naturopath (based in Crows Nest, in the North of Sydney) servicing clients through Western Sydney, East Sydney, Southern Sydney and Northern Beaches of Sydney. I have been working in my own practice for over 20 years. As well as my original studies in Naturopathy, Herbal Medicine and Nutrition, I have a Masters degree in Gestalt Psychotherapy and Counselling, a somatically inclusive form of Psychotherapy which focuses on the development of awareness. My main research interest was in somatic/body-mind regulation of the nervous system, to support in psychological health, chronic illness, chronic pain and general physical health.
How I approach my own life and that of my clients, is through a lens that we are all in fact wonderful wild animals, with our nervous systems being exactly the same as wild animals. In states of chronic illness or pain, or when exposed to overwhelming experiences, we need to include the story of the body to find our way through. To learn to listen and hear where the body is stuck and blocked.
I also have a fascination in neuroscience, and how the brain can change itself and therefore the body – with mindfulness specific practices and by being more embodied. These tools, along with utilising Integrative and Functional pathology laboratories plus general traditional labs – I seek to find the underlying causes of your health imbalances or mental health problems.
My own experience and education allow me to guide people gently, yet with focus, to be ‘consciously well’ and thrive. I now take this information into the corporate settings, helping to educate those in this space, to make them feel more supported, resourced and resilient through mind/body and health education.
And because I am not perfect, it is ok for you not to be perfect either! After all – it is all about progress, not perfection.
